Scabbard & Blade Society

In 1954, a Niagara University joined the National Society of Scabbard and Blade. This honorary
membership was preceded by an honorary society, originally known as the Military Order of the
Purple Eagles. Established in 1952, its purpose was to have an organization committed to
"persevering and developing more efficient officers and preparing them to take an active part
in military affairs on campus. "  Niagara's ROTC Scabbard & Blade Society is still active and
thriving on campus over 50 years later.

Scabbard & Blade - Company K, 11th Regiment

Scabbard and Blade Honor Society is reserved for the top 10% of the Battalion academically.
Each cadet is a lifelong member of the society.  Here at Niagara, S&B members have
a great sense of camaraderie and have a lot of fun together.  Each member is also
required to teach and mentor grade school and high school students along with other
volunteer work.  Each year, the S&B Company hosts a Niagara Falls area golf tournament.
