Endowment provides an institution with a measure of financial security and stability and is a vital priority of our campaign. A strong endowment enables colleges and universities to attract and retain the best teacher scholars, provide scholarships to talented and motivated students, and develop innovative academic programs.

ACTIVE LEARNING ENRICHMENT: $21.5 MILLION

Niagara University is already distinguished for its active learning approach to education— an approach that reinforces course content through field experiences, internships, and the lively exchange of ideas and discussion
among students that often continues outside
the classroom.

This hallmark program at Niagara blends the theory of the classroom with the realities of the workplace and the world, in a manner that balances study, experience, and reflection. The learning experience is distinguished by the manner in which a student’s education is shaped by our Catholic and Vincentian values. Niagara University takes students through a process of gaining, applying and assessing knowledge, and reflecting on experience. We show how service to community is a by product of the process, and how it all is grounded in our values.

In support of active-learning enrichment, Niagara University will dedicate:
- $9 million to provide financial support for endowed professorships and visiting professors. Endowed professorships strengthen the university in terms of its ability to attract distinguished faculty for permanent appointments.
- $9 million to establish new endowed academic programs in all four colleges.
- $3.5 million to improve existing academic programs, capitalize on new disciplines as they arise, and bolster already successful programs such as academic internships, Learn and Serve Niagara, the Castellani Art Museum, and study-abroad programs.

We ask you to envision a learning environment at Niagara that is limitless; that extends far beyond the classroom into the real world; that takes the theory of the classroom, exposes it to the reality of life, and then provides opportunities for reflection. This total learning experience excites the imaginations of students, making them eager to learn, eager to go to class, and eager to apply their knowledge in new and exciting ways.

SCHOLARSHIP ENDOWMENT: $8.0 MILLION

Scholarships are tools we use to bring talented, bright, and promising young people–who may or may not be able to afford tuition–to Niagara University. Attracting the most talented students at both the undergraduate and graduate levels requires endowed funding. Niagara University must continue to develop endowed and other income streams and further our commitment to admitting excellent students regardless of their financial circumstances.

A named and endowed scholarship is a lasting way to build a legacy and make aspirations possible, allowing students to concentrate their time on learning. When colleges and universities can open their doors to the best and brightest students based upon achievement and desire, not ability to pay, they stand stronger in their commitment to learning and society as a whole. Endowed scholarships inspire students to succeed. Niagara University will commit $8 million from this campaign to increase existing and establish new endowed scholarships.
