Biomorphic Abstraction
Paintings referred to as "biomorphic" contain irregular
abstract forms based on shapes found in nature. This style is found
throughout the history of abstract art, notably in the work of Arshile
Gorky, William Baziotes, and Yves Tanguy. Artists in the 80s notable
for using biomorphic imagery include Gregory Amenoff, Charles Clough,
and Steve Currie.
