In Touch with Tradition Workshop: Roots of African-Caribbean Rhythm

Sunday, March 12 , 2:00 - 4:00 p.m.

In Touch with Tradition Workshop: African-Caribbean Poetry and Dance

Two lively participatory workshops will focus on Latin American musical traditions. Dynamic and ever-evolving, these traditions reflect a centuries-old blend of the cultures of Spain, Africa, and the indigenous peoples of the Caribbean. Hosted by musician and poet, Henry Padrón, the workshops will give families the opportunity to try traditional percussion instruments, rhythms, and dance. Niagara University’s Continuing and Community Education department, in conjunction with the Castellani Art Museum and the Niagara Arts and Cultural Center (NACC), is pleased to once again announce a new series of classes. Arts for Life is a rich collection of creative and educational experiences for adults, designed to encourage an exploration of the arts and the area’s rich culture, using the best resources of the NACC and the Castellani Art Museum. Arts for Life classes will be held at two convenient locations: the Castellani Art Museum of Niagara University and the NACC (former Niagara Falls High School). Special workshops will also be offered on occasion at the Castellani Art Museum at the Falls, located at the new Conference Center Niagara Falls. Take one class or take them all and start the season with a new outlook on life! Call 286-8200 for more information.
