The Castellani Art Museum is founded November 19 on the DeVeaux campus of Niagara University as the Buscaglia-Castellani Art Gallery. In 1990, the museum moves to a new building on the Niagara main campus and the name is changed.

The exhibitions New Image Painting and Bad Painting, both in New York, signal the egiinigs of a renewed interest in easel painting.
