Color Field
Artists painting in this style are usually interested in innovative
ways of covering the canvas with color, and the effects produced.
Color Field painters treat the canvas as a single plane. They are
not interested in subject, background, or gestural brushwork. This
emphasis on the flatness of the painting reinforces the idea of
a painting as a two-dimensional, non-illusionist space. Well-known
Color Field painters include Friedel Dzubas, Jack Bush, Larry Poons,
and Morris Louis.
