CoBrA
Born in 1927, Pierre Alechinsky was a founder of the European expressionist
movement - CoBrA. Although the CoBrA movement officially lasted
through 1948 -1951, its impact was considerable as it included many
of Europe's leading painters, writers, poets, and composers. Having
its roots in France, CoBrA was centered in Copenhagen, Brussels,
and Amsterdam. The movements generated numerous publications and
manifestos and was a precursor and influence upon American Abstract
Expressionists.
