Copying and Pasting from DOS to Windows
The icon that appears in the upper left corner of a DOS application window (such as
Telnet or the Borland console box) (on the window's
title bar) can be clicked to reveal a menu. You might find the menu
worth exploring.
For example, you can use the menu to do copy-and-paste operations (either within
the Telnet window or to another window) as follows:
- Click the icon on the title bar.
- Select Edit, Mark from the menu.
- Mark the desired text by dragging the cursor over it so that it is
highlighted. (You may find that you're unable to scroll through the
file, so this is suitable only for small blocks of text.)
- Either strike the Enter key; or click the icon on the title bar, then
select Edit, Copy.
- Move the cursor (either within the Telnet window, or to another window) to
the desired paste location of the material being copied.
- If the cursor is in a Windows application, perform a standard Windows
paste operation. If the cursor is in your DOS application window, click the icon
on the title bar, then select Edit, Paste.
For example, if the destination
application of the paste operation is NotePad or Word,
you now have an easy way to print the data
that had appeared in the DOS application window.
